In observance of the one-year anniversary of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, Voices of Women for Change—a nonprofit women’s organization based in the U.S.—created a digital event to highlight the significance of this transformative movement in Iran and to emphasize the centrality of women’s roles (and resistance) since the inception of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979.

Amnesty - The exhibition "From Evin with Love" in Vienna's Folklore Museum in May, was touching, disturbing and in any case unusual. The exhibition presented handicrafts made by women, imprisoned in Tehran's notorious prisons.

From Evin, With Love presents the handicrafts of imprisoned Iranian women activists from the Evin prison. These women are former human rights activists, lawyers, cartoonists, students, local politicians, but also regular citizens and mothers fighting for their rights. For this reason they have been imprisoned by the Iranian authorities. In the exhibition you see all kinds of random objects such as dolls, birds, sequined purses, patchwork mats and embroidered tablecloths. The women made these works during their imprisonment, expressing their clear desire for freedom.
